insights: i am not an adult film star
Saturday afternoon.
I've left the Glassybaby sale and I'm in a high-end store looking for a new shampoo/conditioner. This brand is well known for their natural approach to beauty and haircare and packed with customers on this rainy Saturday. As I debate getting the shampoo that smells like lavender a sales associate brings me a cup of tea and asks if she can help me. She's lovely and she has bouncy hair. "Yes," I said. "Which products are you using?"
"Oh, you will love this new system. It's created to thicken your hair." She clicks the top of the shampoo bottle open and holds it out for me to smell.
"Isn't that wonderful? This shampoo is so great. It's exfoliating and it will even remove the semen from your hair."
I blink. I stare at her. She smiles and stares back at me. Oblivious to what she just said. Then it dawns on me, did she mean to say that?
I whispered to her "I don't typically have that problem with my hair."
It was interesting watching her full-on smile fade as she realizes what she said. Her face goes from white to pale pink to pink to red and her eyes fill with tears. Her hands fly to her mouth.
"Oh my God. I said that didn't I? I meant to say sebum, the oils in your hair. I said the other word didn't I?
"Yes," I said. "Yes, you did." I now have tears running down my cheeks from laughing so hard. "That is awesome," I said. (I'm still laughing as I type this.)
"I didn't mean to say that," she said. She tried recovering as she described the benefits of this new system. She could have been reading aloud the Declaration of Independence. I couldn't concentrate on what she was saying. I nodded my head as her voice trembled.
"It's OK," I said. "It was funny. This made my day. It's good to know that there is a product that can take care of that problem." I giggled.
"Sebum," she said "It takes out sebum in your hair. Not semen." She giggled too.
I did buy the shampoo, the conditioner and even the styling product. Do the products work? Well my hair is bouncy but the best thing about this new system is that I laugh when I'm in the shower and it's nice to know that there is a shampoo out there that is prepared to handle any hair situation.
